Medium-size tree with a regular pyramidal crown of 5 - 8 (10) m. The first flowers open around early May and the blossoms persist for about 3 weeks. The flowers are vase-shaped and somewhat crescent-shaped. They are strikingly big, sometimes up to 20 cm long. The flowers are a soft yellow, so they stand out well against the dark green, sprouting leaves.
