Foliage bright yellow. Summer green thorny shrubs. Grows in dry, sunny places. Medium-fast growing, lends itself well to shaping. Fruits edible.
Barberry prefers well-drained, permeable soil, which can be both acidic and alkaline. The plant will not tolerate calcareous soil, but barberry will not like excessively wet places.
